Spencer Clothing: Scottish Label
dinburgh-designed fashion label, Spencer Clothing, was proud to launch earlier this year. Under Creative Director Colin Gilchrist and in collaboration with Scottish designer Judy R Clark (ex-Alexander McQueen), this seasonal collection is aimed at the classic, edgy, city woman. It includes professional wear, comfortable formal wear and stunning evening gowns to cover every eventuality in the working woman’s diary, social and otherwise.
Effortlessly stylish suits and bold, dramatic evening gowns with sweeping hemlines and rich colours are among the highlights of the A/W 2012 collection. The Macphee Blouse (pictured left) is a perfect example of the crisp, tailored, yet easy to wear office fashion designed by the brand. Quirky details such as the bow and buttons on the sleeves give an edge to the standard professional look. For transformation to evening, the Allan Dress (pictured below) is a glorious example of the statement pieces soon to become available. The occasional splash of tartan keeps the brand grounded in its Scottish origins, while Judy R Clark’s signature styling is evident in the Edwardian touches like puff sleeves and cuff detailing. The overall image is smart, chic and no-nonsense.
Although fresh onto the scene, the brand is already gathering momentum with approval from the likes of Grazia and Cosmopolitan. Spencer’s inaugural A/W 2012 range was photographed in mid January in Edinburgh’s Studio 128 venue with Anna Freemantle – Edinburgh based model, Creative Consultant and Producer- on hand to showcase a number of the outfits. Spencer Clothing will be heading to PURE (London) in February to meet with a range of buyers; we wish them luck and look forward to them gracing our favourite fashion pages!
