How To Feel Happy in Your Summer Wardrobe

Summer bliss equals longer days, sunkissed skin and eating al fresco with friends. And the fact that people living in Edinburgh can’t take these aspects of summer for granted makes these days all the more precious when they’re here. However, the reality that sunshine isn’t always guaranteed can also make planning our summer wardrobe slightly more tricky.
As a style coach I believe it’s important that our wardrobes supply us with a regular dose of positive energy. The clothes in your summer wardrobe should consist of only clothes that you could definitely wear in the next four months. If you regularly stand before your wardrobe and feel your shoulders sag as you grab the hanger that has one of the three outfits that you wear on a rotational basis, then your wardrobe isn’t giving you the energy you need. If it’s not a potential outfit then put it somewhere else. Let the energy flow through your wardrobe and out to greet you.
The clothes hanging in our wardrobes should be suitable for every occasion. A dress that can be worn with pumps and a shrug will suit many daytime purposes but paired with heels and a sheer stole it will look great in the evening. So have you got that dress? Look in your wardrobe, it may already be there. Then store your other dresses away. A smart skirt, daytime skirt and pair of summer weight trousers can be paired with two T shirts, two smarter cotton tops and one dressy top, providing the foundations for many outfits. You already have the flats and the heels to work daytime or evening / smart or casual combinations with these clothes. Add a summer weight coat (Reiss do tailored raincoats so well) and one draped piece of knitwear in a neutral shade and your summer wardrobe is complete (I’m assuming an Edinburgh gal always has her umbrella to hand!). If all of these items don’t already exist in your wardrobe, work out which garments are missing and shop specifically for them. Now that you don’t have to wade through the jungle of a packed wardrobe you’ll have time to choose those winning accessories which can transform the look of an outfit instantly.
You’ll find that the time invested at the beginning of summer to prepare your summer capsule will be returned to you many times over during the season. I work with many clients in Scotland and London and all of them are too busy and intelligent to be obsessed with clothes, but each of them appreciates the peace of mind and pleasure that an organised wardrobe provides. And that sums up summer bliss perfectly – peace of mind and lots of pleasure.
Love Your Summer Wardrobe Event
For many of us our summer wardrobes are a headache that we’d prefer to ignore. Too much flesh on show, too little structure in fabrics. At the Renideo Summer Wardrobe Workshop you’ll learn with like-minded individuals what the summer capsule wardrobe should consist of for home and holiday, so that you can enjoy every occasion without worrying if you have the right outfit to wear. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of bubbly and some nibbles and will enjoy an efficient mini manicure from the staff of the luxury Edinburgh spa, Serenity in the City.
Held in the studio space of Totty Rocks, where Renideo consultations are regularly held, this exclusive workshop is available to the first ten people who book. The small workshop group allows you to ask questions and feel confident that your summer wardrobe is fully prepared. Unfortunately there are only a few spaces left so please contact Karen immediately if you’d like to attend the workshop.
