blackwood 22815 Blackwood: Fringe ReviewNew Place Productions presents Blackwood, a timeless tale of two writers from 1930’s New York who witness their murderous character leaving the pages of the typewriter and joining them in the realm of non-fiction. The lead character, Blackwood, steals the show in this humorous, dark, Jekyll and Hyde sort of theatre. He is sick and twisted and absolutely hilarious. Anyone who would enjoy the combination of laughter and Agatha Christie will certainly enjoy this 50 minute romp.

The acting is top-quality and full of classic touches. Pacing across the room, fidgeting fingers, a cockney criminal with a crooked top hat, a workaholic playwright and his Don Juan partner topped with fake blood pooling on a white shirt. This play will entice you through tunnels of shady possibilities and leave you wondering if you’ll ever really know ‘whodunnit’. Who’s to say, when there’s an imaginary killer on the loose.

9-13 August 2011, Zoo Southside, 6:30pm (50min), £8.50 (14+)
