Review: Broadway Brunch at the Ghillie Dhu

Broadway 166x250 Review: Broadway Brunch at the Ghillie DhuFans of musical theatre will love this new concept from Cutting Edge Theatre Productions and the gorgeous new venue in town, Ghillie Dhu. The idea is similar to Oran Mor’s  A Play, a Pie and a Pint – but instead of a play, the lunchtime entertainment is provided by an all singing, all dancing cast who spend the hour belting out many of Broadway’s best-loved tunes.

We were served up a lunch of haggis, neeps and tatties – entirely appropriate for such a distinctly Scottish venue – while the performers took turns singing favourites from Les Mis, Gypsy and Joseph, as well as some more obscure musicals. Being sang to over lunch was weird for about half a minute (kind of like stepping into an episode of Glee), but that was forgotten as the cast got into their stride and captured the audience’s attention with their lively performances.

The next one is on at 12.30, Friday 23rd July, then after the Festivals are over they’re hoping to make it a regular event. Head down and check it out if you fancy something a bit different this Friday. Call 222 9930 to book.
