Meet Miranda Philip…
…she’s the Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner at Cherrybank Dental Spa, and carries out all of the wrinkle-reduction procedures that are on offer such as botox, dermal fillers and skin peels. When Miranda first entered the aesthetics industry she was concerned about its unregulated nature, so she decided to arm herself with as much professional training as she could in order to give her clients complete peace of mind.
Originally from Edinburgh, Miranda studied Nursing in Oxford and in 1996 graduated from Oxford Brookes University and the John Radcliffe School of Nursing. Her background in Nursing comes from working in hospitals in Edinburgh, London, New York. New Jersey and other parts of the USA. After many years working in a hospital environment (training surgeons and theatre staff) Miranda entered the field of aesthetic medicine and undertook training in Glasgow, Gloucester and London, as well as assisting at the Royal College of Physicians in London.
She has considerable experience in administering botox and dermal fillers, and is passionate and knowledgeable about the benefits they provide. Additionally, she is studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine at Greenwich University.
Miranda has tried both dermal fillers and chemical peels, and is a user of botox. She believes that it is important to experience the treatments she provides first-hand so that she can have a comprehensive understanding of them and can relay this back to her clients.
Why Cherrybank?
The aesthetics industry is relatively new and currently has very little regulation. Cowboy practitioners can attend one-day training courses and then go on to administer botox, and companies can act in an unethical manner by encouraging clients to undertake procedures they do not want or need. Stories in the press about frozen facial muscles and ‘trout pouts’ are a direct result of this lack of training.
At Cherrybank Dental Spa the approach is refreshingly different.
Miranda is trained to the highest professional standard and her main priority is you. Consultations are entirely patient-focussed, and the aim is to put you at ease by listening to what you want and then advising you on the best procedures for you. Cherrybank pride themselves on achieving a look that is 100% natural. As Miranda says ‘if botox and fillers are done properly the look will be completely natural – people might ask you if you’ve been on holiday.’
What to expect from your visit to Cherrybank
The patient experience is at the centre of the Cherrybank philosophy.
Firstly you will meet Miranda for an entirely free consultation with no obligation. This is an opportunity for her to explain her background to you, answer any questions you may have, advise you on the best procedure for you and an opportunity for you to feel comfortable with the quality of treatment and professionalism being offered. You can then go away and think about whether you would like any treatment, to make sure that it is the right decision for you.
If you decide to go ahead with a procedure then you will return to the clinic to be seen by Miranda. She will carry out the treatment which you will pay for on completion. She will schedule you in for a free consultation 2 weeks later.
In this second, free consultation, Miranda will check that you are satisfied with the results of your botox or dermal fillers. Both of these can take some time to work so it is best to start with a small amount and then build it up gradually. If you require a top-up of either treatment she will do this for you completely free of charge.
Botox or dermal fillers?
A consultation with Miranda will help you decide whether botox or fillers are best for you. But until then here’s a quick guide on the differences between them.
Botox
- Is injected into the muscles of the upper face to calm angry expressions and crow’s feet
- Relaxes muscles to stop you creating strong facial lines
- Getting botox in your early 30s can stop you creating these deep lines in the first place
- facial movement allows for natural expression without causing muscles to contract heavily, causing lines and wrinkles
Dermal Fillers
- Plumps up tissue, replacing lost volume or recontouring facial features
- Lifts and adds fullness
- Eliminates lines and wrinkles which have become permanent
