According to celebrity stylist, Danit A. Levi of DressYourWay Style Consultancy, January is the perfect time for a quick – or thorough – wardrobe edit. She suggests that before you do anything drastic, you might want to take a break and look at what you want your look to say, with a fresh, sometimes foreign, designer pair of eyes…!
I mean, before you go and buy the same things all over again in your ‘local’ outlets why not take advantage of the many ‘New Year’ travel deals and find a city to explore for a weekend or a week? Added to the already established reasons for a visit, for example scenery, food and various cultural attractions, you can get a few garments that are not available in the UK and breathe some fresh air into your collection.
You might discover that all you really need are a few pieces to help feel more positive about the way you look or, if you have the budget and want to benefit from massive winter sales, throw caution to the wind and buy a comprehensive ‘cooler days’ capsule that will serve you well year round in Scotland.
Over the past years I have been fortunate to work and discover fashions in some of the world’s major and minor hubs and I can vouch that the ‘style souvenirs’ I collected over time have made one or more appearances in my collection and with each wear, not only the positive remarks made me feel great, I also smile fondly at the memory of the experience.
If you feel you will enjoy the ‘leg work’ yourself just go for it but if you need some advice, do not hesitate to ask. Be it the large fashion centres in Berlin or Barcelona or the smaller fashion locals in Lausanne, Copenhagen, Santa Fe or Tel Aviv, I will be very happy to point out the gems, whatever the location.
